Not into the surfing scene? Looking to find a gorgeous beach with calm protected water to float around in unrivaled tranquility? Then you will love the beach locally known as Playa Redonda!
How do you get to Redonda Beach?
It is inside the Aqua Wellness Resort & Spa. Leave Rivas heading east for the small town of Tola. Make a left turn at the police station (east side of the park). Go two blocks make a right. For these two turns there will be plenty of signs pointing the way. Stay on the paver road until you see the signs on the left hand side for Playa Gigante and Aqua resort, turn left here. Stay on this dirt road for 4km and you will see a very nice security entrance gate on the left with a big AQUA sign.
How do you get in if you are not staying in the resort?
Simply call Aqua Resort and make a lunch or dinner reservation before arriving at their beachfront restaurant and bar that serves some quality locally grown organic fare. The number is (505)-7530-7982 and more information is available on http://www.aquanicaragua.com. When you get to the gate just let them know you have a reservation and give them the name under which it was made. Voilà, you now have access to their amazing private beach! Once through the gate, follow the signs to get to the beach access parking lot. Now it’s time to relax, take a refreshing dip in the crystal clear water and enjoy a nap in serenity under the shade of the tree lined beach.
The beautifully calm cove is great for snorkeling along the rocks on the left side and those who want to try sea kayaking or paddleboarding for the first time. Thursday nights the restaurant chef fires up their wood-burning stone hearth oven to make pizzas topped to your liking. They even have a local micro-brew on tap called Moropotente that you will surely want to sip on while you unwind on the white sands of Playa Redonda.
